A comprehensive evaluation involves a detailed assessment to establish the foundational status of oral health for new and existing patients. This includes analyzing current oral hygiene, reviewing past dental histories, identifying risk factors, and considering individual needs. Consequently, dental professionals can create tailored treatment plans that promote optimal oral health and encourage long-term commitment to good dental hygiene.

Teeth Whitening

Teeth whitening is becoming increasingly popular as people prioritize self-confidence and oral health. This trend highlights a cultural focus on appearance, with a bright smile crucial for personal and professional interactions. A radiant smile can greatly influence first impressions and perceptions. Many are investing in their smiles, understanding that a whiter smile enhances well-being and self-esteem, boosting overall confidence. Single Crown

A dental crown is a tooth-shaped cap that repairs broken, decayed, or weak teeth. It restores strength and appearance, making it essential in restorative dentistry. Dentists also use crowns to protect dental implants and teeth after root canal treatment, ensuring their security and functionality. By covering the visible part of a tooth, crowns help maintain oral health and enhance smiles.

Causes of Tooth Pain

A toothache arises from irritation to the nerve in the tooth's root or surrounding area, causing discomfort and sensitivity. This irritation can result from dental infections, decay, injury, or tooth loss. Understanding these causes is essential for effectively addressing the toothache and maintaining overall oral health.

Sensitive Teeth

Sensitive teeth can cause discomfort with hot, cold, or sweet foods due to several factors. These include worn enamel, exposed roots from gum recession, untreated cavities, cracks from hard biting or grinding, and recent dental treatments like whitening or fillings that may heighten sensitivity. Each issue contributes to tooth sensitivity and may require different management approaches.

Veneers

Dental veneers are personalized, custom-made shells that are meticulously crafted to seamlessly cover the front surfaces of your teeth, effectively camouflaging imperfections such as cracks, chips, stains, and various other cosmetic flaws. These innovative dental solutions not only enhance the appearance of your smile but also restore confidence, providing a brighter, more uniform look that can greatly improve your overall self-esteem.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are titanium tooth roots surgically placed in the jawbone to replace missing teeth. They serve as a strong foundation for crowns, bridges, or dentures. After osseointegration with the bone over a few months, a custom crown is attached to the implant, resembling a natural tooth.

Oral Cancer Screening

Dental oral cancer screening includes examining the mouth, lips, gums, tongue, cheeks, and throat. Dentists look for unusual sores, lumps, or discolorations and may check the neck for abnormal masses. If problems are found, further evaluations like biopsies or imaging may be suggested. Regular screenings are essential for early detection, enhancing treatability and outcomes.

Ask a Dentist! Questions you should ask a Dentist before selecting your Dentist.

Before you "hire" a dentist, there are a few questions you should ask.  After-all, the safety and security of your family will be in their hands.  Below is a list of questions you should ask any dentist.

  • 1. What is your experience with pediatric dentistry?

    • It’s essential to ensure that the dentist has experience and is comfortable dealing with younger patients who might be anxious about dental visits.

Dr Price and her team enjoy seeing children and teenagers.

"For a first visit with young children we generally call it a “Happy Visit”.  We want  to provide a comfortable way to make it a positive experience so they want to comeback."

  • 2. Do you have experience with orthodontics?

    • Many teenagers and some preteens may require braces or other orthodontic treatments. Knowing if these services are offered can be a big plus.

Its important to recognize when orthodontics (braces) are necessary.  When an exam indicates braces may be nessessary, Dr. Price will then refer you to a specialist called an orthodontist.

  • 3. Can you handle both routine dental care and emergencies?

    • Find out if the dentist offers comprehensive care that includes routine check-ups, cleanings, fillings, and emergency dental services.

DR. Price provides comprehensive care that includes an initial comprehensive exam. This will help to diagnose the best order in which to treat you. If there is an emergency that needs to be addressed that always takes precedence. Generally routine cleanings, x-rays and restorative work are all that is necessary. If more advanced treatment is needed Dr. Price will discuss the options and best way to proceed.

  • 4. What measures do you take to accommodate anxious patients?

    • Especially important for children and teens who may have fears about dental procedures. Inquire about pain management and sedation options.

Dr. Price understands that It is very common to be anxious in a dental office. The most important initial consideration is to simply LISTEN to a patients concerns. Pain management and sedation options can be discussed for each individual person.

  • 5. How do you stay up-to-date with the latest dental technologies and techniques?

    • A dentist who keeps current with the latest advancements in dental care is likely to offer the best treatment options.

Keeping current with advances in dentistry is important. Dr. Price is an active member of a local study group that meets monthly. It consists of many of peers and specialists in the area and we discuss current issues.  Also, Dr. Price is a member of the American Dental Association and the Oklahoma Dental Association.

  • 6. What is your policy on parental presence during treatment?

    • Some parents prefer to be present during their children's dental treatments, especially for younger kids.

If a parent would like to be with their child during treatment then Dr. Prices welcomes and encourages parents to be present for their child.

  • 7. How do you educate your younger patients about dental health?

    • Look for a dentist who is not only good at dental procedures but also takes the time to teach kids about proper oral hygiene practices.

Between the dental hygienists and Dr. Price they like to take time educating children and adults  about proper hygiene skills. Preventive dentistry equals great oral hygiene practice.

  • 8. Do you offer flexible appointment scheduling?

    • For families, having flexible hours for appointments can be very helpful, particularly if the parents work during the day.

Dr. Price will try to accommodate appointment schedules. Our hours are Monday-Thursday, but it is not unusual for DR. Price and her team to work on a Friday or Saturday if needed. She is also on call at all times iin case of an emergency.

  • 9. What types of insurance do you accept, or do you offer payment plans?

    • Understanding the financial aspect can also influence your decision, especially if you're managing the dental care costs for the entire family.

Dr. Price is a provider for Delta Dental Premier. She accepts and will file for any insurance company. There is  generally an out of pocket expense for treatment and we would be happy to let you know what that expense is by a pre-authorization. It explains what insurance covers and how much out of pocket expense you are responsible for before deciding on proceeding with treatment.

  • 10. Can you provide references or testimonials from other families?

    • Hearing about other families' experiences with the dentist can provide insight into how the dentist interacts with children and manages their practice.

Yes, Dr. Price is happy to provide references upon request.

To maintain excellent oral health, essential habits involve brushing your teeth a minimum of two times each day using fluoride toothpaste. This aids in eradicating plaque, while fortifying tooth enamel against acidic erosion caused by plaque buildup, thus lowering the risk of tooth decay. Equally important is daily flossing to eliminate food debris and plaque from interdental spaces inaccessible to a toothbrush. This practice helps ward off gum disease and cavities that may arise in these difficult-to-reach spots. (Nature) (Arrow Smile Dental).

For enhanced oral health, it is advised to steer clear of tobacco, as it can trigger oral cancer and various periodontal diseases. Likewise, it is recommended to moderate the consumption of sodas, coffee, and alcohol due to their high phosphorous levels, which may contribute to tooth decay and gum issues. Opting for calcium-rich foods such as milk, cheese, and yogurt is advantageous since calcium is essential for the well-being of teeth and bones. (Arrow Smile Dental).

It is advisable to schedule regular dental appointments at least two times a year for professional cleanings and check-ups. This aids in early detection of any potential dental problems and allows for proactive steps to prevent them from progressing. (Arrow Smile Dental).
