Dana Price Dental – How to Get Rid of Jaw Pain and Sore Teeth
Do you suffer from jaw pain, sore teeth, clenching, and other jaw-related problems? If so, our TMJ treatment can help you get better again. When your jaw joint and the muscles surrounding the jaw joint become inflamed, they can cause serious pain of which you might not know the source. With help from Dr. Price though, you can get relief and can start to feel better again. Here is a look at what we can do to help you get rid of jaw pain and sore teeth.
Home Care
For many patients, jaw pain relief can come from basic home care. We will tell you what to do at home to relieve the inflammation in your jaw joints and jaw joint muscles. You may need to adjust the way you eat, sleep, or care for your teeth to get rid of the pain. If home care does not work, we have several other options to help you.
Medication
Basic pain medication may be able to take care of most of your pain, but that will not necessarily fix your issues at the source. We can prescribe medications for your TMJ treatment to improve your condition and get rid of your pain at the same time.
Physical Therapy and Splint Therapy
Physical therapy isn't just reserved for legs, arms, and other external body parts. It can also help you relieve pain in your jaws. We will work out your jaw muscles to improve your pain and strengthen your jaw at the same time.
With splint therapy, we will create a splint for your jaw that will gradually correct your bite over time. This is similar to what some patients wear at night when they have braces. The results may take a while to fully form, but you should notice a difference in your pain level right away.
Dental Reshaping
In some cases, the shape of your teeth is the primary cause of your pain. You might need to have your teeth reshaped so they no longer cause issues with you bite. In rare instances, we may need to use surgery to fully correct the problem, but we will take other precautions before that has to happen.
Every TMJ case is a little different in the treatment it needs. Let us take a look at your jaw and bite pain to suggest a treatment plan for you.
